Located at only 53km (1.5hrs) from Oaxaca City, Cuajimoloyas is one of the highest mountainous communities in the region at 3200 m above sea level. It boasts majestic natural scenes, making it an ideal place for walking tours, mountain biking and horse riding. A wide variety of local flora and fauna can be appreciated in any of the tours, such as maguey, manzanita, pingüica, cabeza de bruja, madroño, aile and yagalán. During your visit to our Community, you will find yourself in contact with spectacular rocky formations, beautiful and peaceful plains, as well as charming trails flanked by rows of imposing maguey plants.
Problems related with the provision of environmental services and regional challenges of managing socio-ecological systems can be observed.

09:00 -13:00 A walk to “la Sepultura” (the Grave), allows yourself to experience the natural beauty of the highest zone of the Sierra Norte where you can appreciate impressive panoramic views, take in the exuberant hills, and see different species of flora and wild animals that inhabit the area.
