The walk starts in Xaagá, a village at the foot of the mountain. Our guides are native inhabitants of the community of San Isidro Roaguia. At the start of the tour we will have to work harder enough to ascend from the 1700 to 2200 meters in 5 kilometers, then descent 6 kilometers and at the end you go up 1 km. You can imagine the profile of this mountain as a triangle that ascend and descend through the sidewalks where transiting the inhabitants of Hierve el Agua to Mitla. Although there is a road passable for vehicles, the walk by alternative paths is designed to enjoy the landscape, the nature and the panoramic views from the heights, as well as remember how our ancestors moved. When you get to Hierve el Agua, where doña Emelia will prepare the meal that consists of tlayudas, quesadillas, memelitas to the comal with beans, cheese, salsa and guacamole accompanied by a cold beer or soda. After the meal we carry out a short walk to visit the different petrified waterfalls and swim in the natural pools. The return to the city is after having enjoyed comfortably for all activities. During the return to the city if the group wants, we can stop at one of the palenques to see how is mezcal is produced and taste the different presentations. One of these may be "Mezcal palenques the King of matatlan" which is at the height of Teotitlán del Valle, Tlacolula, where you can also purchase the mezcal of your preference.
